Beyond that we know Sheamus should be facing Ridge Holland, and we should see the follow-up from Roman Reigns and Xavier Woods last week. And that’s the preview for tonight’s SmackDown. SmackDown

This week’s show opens with a look back at last week’s main event where Xavier Woods battled Roman Reigns and almost had him beat but The Uso’s interfered and Reigns took his crown.

We go live to the arnea in Hartford, Connecticut, and out come Jimmy and Jey Uso. There’s a crown, sceptre, and throne in the ring and they say they have a surprise for Roman. They say tonight we’re going to see who runs WWE and then introduce the WWE Champion, who comes out alongside Paul Heyman.

Heyman says there is nobody in the history of WWE that deserves to be crowned King more than the Tribal Chief. And he knows in his heart that everyone in the arena agrees the distinction of King doesn’t belong to Xavier Woods. And it sure as Hell will never belong to Brock Lesnar or Big E. Reigns takes the microphone from Heyman and asks whose idea this was.

Heyman and The Uso’s point at each other and Roman says this is a joke. He says he doesn’t give a damn about the crown and he doesn’t need it to be acknowledged. He tells the fans to acknowledge him for his hard work. Roman says the only reason he took the crown last week is because he can. Just then, Roman is interrupted by Xavier Woods.

Woods says Roman has his property in the ring but those things don’t make a King. What makes a King is knowing you’re doing good for the WWE Universe. And if Roman was a King he’d have come out and looked him in the eyes this week, but that’s not Roman’s M.O. He challenges Reigns to come out without The Uso’s and go one-on-one.

Reigns laughs and asks if this stuff doesn’t really mean anything to Woods, then stands on the cape, then Jey snaps the sceptre. Roman asks if he’s still sure and Woods says that stuff doesn’t make the man, so Jimmy and Jey break the throne. Roman says Woods looks hot to him but Woods shakes his head. Roman takes the crown and aims to stomp it but Woods rushes to the ring and The Uso’s attack him. Reigns tells Woods he’s the only King and he doesn’t need props, then stomps the crown.

King Woods is hobbling abckstage when he’s stopped for an interview. Woods says he wanted to challenge Roman to a match tonight, not get beat up. Regardless, everyone knows the Roman Empire wasn’t built in a day… but it will fall tonight.

Fatal 4-Way

Sheamus Vs. Cesaro Vs. Jinder Mahal Vs. Ricochet

Winner Joins SmackDown Survivor Series Team

The match gets underway and all four men begin brawling. Ricochet gets the better of Sheamus but Mahal clocks him with a kick. Sheamus and Mahal start working together for a minute but Jinder rolls him up for a near-fall. Sheamus attacks Mahal and gets him on the apron for the Ten Beats of the Bodhran. Cesaro grabs Sheamus for The Swing but he kicks him away.

Ricochet hits a springboard dropkick to knock Sheamus to the outside, then hits Cesaro with a tilt-a-whirl headscissors that sends him out as well. Ricochet then follows-up with a huge springboard tope to wipe out all three men on the floor as we head to the break.

Sheamus clubs Ricochet in the corner but gets caught with a DDT and a standing shooting star press. Ricochet kicks Shanky away, then kicks Cesaro a few times and hits Mahal with the Recoil. Ricochet goes up top and hits the 630 splash but Sheamus then catches him with the Brogue Kick. Cesaro breaks the pin attempt and hits a big European uppercut. Cesaro wants the Neutralizer but Ridge Holland comes running down and distracts him, allowing Sheamus to hit the Brogue for the win.

Natalya slams Naomi and pins her for a quick three count – they’re going with the crooked referee thing.

Winners: Natalya & Shayna Baszler

Sami Zayn is ranting backstage when Sonya Deville talks him down and tells him she has an idea for a 25-man battle royale on Sunday and Sami likes the idea. The referee from the last match appears and asks Sonya if she did a good job but Deville says she doesn’t know who she is and she doesn’t associate with crooked referees.

Jeff Hardy W/Drew McIntyre Vs. Madcap Moss W/Happy Corbin

Before the match gets underway, Jeff says if Corbin can be in Moss’s corner, then he can have someone in his and out comes Drew McIntyre. Moss hits Jeff with a spinebuster right out the gate, then connects with some knees. Hardy makes a comeback and goes to the top rope but Corbin gets on the apron. Drew pulls him down and tosses him over the announce desk. Moss knocks Hardy down and lifts him up but Jeff hits a small package for the win.

Winner: Jeff Hardy

After the match Corbin rushes into the ring and McIntyre hits him with a Claymore. Hardy hits Moss with a Swanton Bomb, then Jeff and McIntyre then dance together and Drew wears Corbin’s hat.

Paul Heyman is interviewed backstage and he says Roman Reigns doesn’t need him or The Uso’s, he keeps them around because he loves them. But as far as Xavier Woods is concerned, there’s no love lost and his challenge for tonight is accepted.

*Commercial Break*

Shinsuke Nakamura W/Rick Boogs Vs. Angel W/Humberto Carrillo

The match begins at a quick pace and Nakamura backs Angel into the corner with kicks. Nakamura goes to the middle rope and jumps but Angel catches him with heel kick. Angel is sent to the outside and Nakamura attacks him, then gets him back inside. Boogs grabs Humberto as he attempts to interfere and applies a gutwrench before tossing him aside. Nakamura hits the Kinshasa for the win.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura

We see a replay of Shotzi’s heel turn against Sasha Banks. Sasha meets Shotzi backstage and Sonya Deville comes between them. She says they need to be teammates this weekend but Shotzi interrupts her and calls Sasha a spoiled brat and she doesn’t forget being screwed over. Banks says if she had a dime for everytime a rookie tried to make their name using her she’d be rich… well actually she is rich. Banks says she’s the blueprint and the leader of Team SmackDown and Shotzi’s about to find out why.

*Commercial Break*

Sasha Banks Vs. Shotzi

They lock-up and Shotzi forces Sasha to the corner. Shotzi shouts at Sasha and hits her but Banks catches her with a springboard arm-drag, then taunts her. They both grab a chunk of hair and Shotzi kicks Sasha, who turns around for the Three Amigoes as a tribute to Eddie Guerrero and the fans chant his name. Banks goes up top for the frog splash but Shotzi rolls out of the way.

Banks rolls to the apron and knees Shotzi in the mouth. Shotzi jumps at her but misses and goes through the ropes. Banks leaps off the apron but Shotzi avoids it, then slams her into the steel steps. Shotzi traps Sasha’s hand in the steps and kicks it over and over before getting her back inside for a two-count. Banks knocks Sasha to the outside, then hits a meteora off the apron.

*Commercial Break*

Back live and Banks hits double knees in the corner, then a second meteora from the top rope for a near-fall. Shotzi fights back and hits sliced bread off the ropes for a near-fall of her own. Shotzi yells at Banks and sends her to the apron, then runs her bad arm into the ring post. Shotzi gets Banks back inside and goes up top to hit the Ball Pit. Sasha rolls outside so Shotzi goes out and gets her back in, then lifts her up but Sasha counters into a crossface using her leg instead of her arm and makes Shotzi tap.

Winner: Sasha Banks

After the match Sonya Deville comes out and motions for them to make amends. So Sasha lifts Shotzi up and holds her arm, then spins her around and hits the Bank Statement. Sasha leaves laughing and Deville is unimpressed.

Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman are sitting backstage and Roman asks if it’s time and Paul says it is. They stand and Heyman tells The Uso’s he can handle his alone and walks off.

We see a vignette for Xia Li in the form of a comic book. She narrates over it, saying her father was the family protector but he died, then the evil landlord tried to kick them out and it was up to her to wield her father’s protective shield. She hates vultures and she is her father’s daughter. She is the protector.

Kayla Braxton interviews Toni Storm backstage and congratulates her on being announced for Team SmackDown. Toni says she’s very excited about representing team blue. Storm is asked about confronting Charlotte Flair last week and she says Charlotte is obsessed with Becky, so she’s vulnerable. A lot of people are afraid of Charlotte but she’s not. Flair will lose on Sunday and she’ll take it out on her.

Charlotte Flair appears and says, after she beats the crap out of Becky, Toni is next on the list. She doesn’t deserve a title shot, but she will give her a match. And she will beat the crap out of her, just the way she will to Banks on Sunday. Flair flicks her hair and walks off and Toni says she knew Charlotte would say that.

*Commercial Break*

Xavier Woods comes to the ring and he gets on the microphone. He says he’s here in the ring to find out if Roman is a man. Last week they had a match and Woods hit the Limit Break elbow and The Uso’s interfered. Which means the WWE Universal Champion can’t beat the King one-on-one. And if that makes him feel any sort of way, he shold come out and do something.

Reigns comes out, not wearing his ring gear. They stop on the ramp and Heyman calls for the Uso’s, but both Jimmy and Jey come flying out on their asses. A few seconds later, the WWE Champion, Big E, emerges! Big E and Roman run to meet each other on the ramp and Big E sends him into the steel steps. Big E then tosses Roman into the barricade and into the ring.

Woods and Big E fist-bump, then both put the boots to Roman in the ring while Heyman screams for help. Jimmy and Jey rush down but one gets caught with a superkick, and the other a Big Ending. Big E then hits the other with a Big Ending, then Woods dives over the ropes onto both of them but Reigns returns with a Superman punch to Big E. Roman wants a spear but Big E picks him up, only for Roman to slide off and roll from the ring. Reigns and Heyman retreat while Big E poses in the ring with the title.

That’s it for this week’s SmackDown, let us know what you thought of the show and we’ll see you back here on Sunday night for Survivor Series 2021. Until then, stay safe.
