Lance Archer is certainly one of the mainstays of AEW television and a true veteran in the pro wrestling world. His imposing figure and intensity have made him a top star in the company. It seems Tony Khan clarified Archer’s injury status.
Prior to signing with AEW, Lance Archer largely worked in NJPW and competed in some memorable matches. He would sign with AEW back in February of last year and since then became one of the mainstays of the company.
During an episode of AEW Dynamite last month, Eddie Kingston and Lance Archer squared off against each other in an AEW Eliminator tournament match. During the match, Lance Archer suffered a scary botch after landing on his head when performing a moonsault. It was said that Lance Archer is out of action due to suffering a concussion.
While speaking on the post-AEW Full Gear media scrum, AEW President Tony Khan talked about Lance Archer’s injury status. Khan clarified that he suffered a neck injury and not a head-related injury. Khan also stated that he won’t rush Lance Archer’s return either.
“He’s here. He’s good. Thankfully, he came out of it good. It was a neck injury, not a head injury. He cleared all the impact testing, concussion, all the stuff over the last several weeks. He twisted his neck, but he’s good.
I’m not exactly sure. I don’t want to rush. We have so many great stars. Lance is a really important wrestler for us and has hit on so many great things for us like winning the IWGP US Title in the Texas Deathmatch. It was a great and he had a great match with (Hiroshi) Tanahashi. I don’t have an exact date, but I don’t see any point in rushing him. With a neck injury, you don’t want to rush it. He was here today and the doc was checking up on him. He’s in great spirits and he’s had a great 2021.”
We will have to wait and see when Lance Archer will make his return to AEW television as the landscape of the company might be very different by the time he comes back.
