WWE Superstars Pay Tribute To The Rock With Epic Photo Shoot

The Rock is celebrating his 25th anniversary as a WWE superstar. He’s transcended wrestling and become a core member of the American pop culture psyche. Even among his fellow wrestlers, Dwayne Johnson is a legendary figure.

Today, WWE on Fox shared a photo of several major WWE superstars paying tribute to The Great One. Matt Riddle, WWE champion Big E., Kofi Kingston, Rhea Ripley, Damian Priest, and Xavier Woods are all they. Each one wears an outfit that represents one of Rock’s many looks over the years.

Riddle went with the Rocky Maivia look, complete with tassels from the mid-1990s. Rhea and Damian had the attitude era covered, rocking the early Hollywood Rock styles. Kofi lifts an eyebrow as thoughtful Rock. Big E. does the same over a pair of sunglasses, posing as World Champion Rock. Xavier rounds it out as “Occasional Special Appearances” Rock.

The photo looks to have been taken from behind the scenes of a studio shoot. Several lighting rigs and a backdrop are apparent in the shot. It’s likely part of the planned tributes to celebrate Johnson’s anniversary in WWE.

It’s rare for a professional wrestler to garner the kind of universal admiration shown for The Rock. While fans have been anxiously awaiting his return to wrestling, The Rock says he’s not in any hurry. He’d like to wait for the perfect moment. He’s also got a very busy schedule between his film projects and trying to relaunch the XFL.
