WWE made a very curious move recently when they assigned the name Paige to one of their NXT referees. In a company that wants to keep naming conventions simple to avoid confusion, fans wondered how such an oversight could be made. Even the real Paige laughed at the notion.

Four days later, the company seems to have finally noticed their mistake. The Twitter account associated with Chloe Christmas has been changed from @RefPaigeWWE to @BlairBaldwinWWE. It appears the Paige paradox has been resolved.

Paige (Saraya Bevis, not the ref) tweeted a confused Spider-Man meme tagging the referee as a reaction to the initial gaffe. Baldwin laughed it off with an emoji-filled Twitter reply. It appears no feelings were hurt.

How the error occured in the first place is up for speculation. Paige has been with WWE since 2011. She was given the name Paige shortly after her arrival in the company’s Florida Championship Wrestling developmental organization. She is one of the most recognizable stars in the company.

Either someone in charge of naming the new wrestlers and officials knew little to nothing about the existing talent roster, or they thought so little of Paige that they just didn’t care. Either way, it’s been viewed by fans as another sign that the company is out of touch with not only the fan base, but themselves.

Chloe Christmas (now Blair Baldwin, formerly Paige 2.0) signed with WWE in 2020. She will surely be relieved to not have to carry the burden of sharing the exact same name as one of her coworkers. It’ll be interesting to see if the true story behind this backstage botch ever surfaces.
