Keith Lee was released from WWE after they just gave him a new Bearcat nickname. That time for Bearcat Lee was short-lived and many fans were shocked. Then reports came out that Keith Lee wasn’t too easy to work with backstage.
WWE’s trend of releasing Superstars is not going to stop any time soon. The company almost released about ten additional Superstars last week on top of the wave of cuts they did send down.
Ringside News asked around about the reports that Keith Lee was hard to work with backstage. We were told that was the case.
A tenured member of the creative team told us that, “Keith Lee’s attitude was always bad.” There is a reason why he continued receiving additional opportunities despite backstage issues.
We were told that, “in an era where there are no new stars, and a 350 pound man with his level of agility is on the roster, you push him.” Eventually, WWE decided to cut Keith Lee instead.
We will have to see what Keith Lee does next in his career. Vince McMahon changed a lot about his character when he was called up to the WWE main roster, and that likely added to his frustration. He is currently under a 90-day non-compete clause, so fans could see him pop up somewhere else in February, 2022.
