It has been more than two months since CM Punk’s debut at AEW Rampage: The First Dance. While many feel the novelty value hasn’t worn off, others feel otherwise. It seems recently admitted something about CM Punk’s booking in AEW.
CM Punk has been competing in several matches on AEW Rampage since his debut and most of them have been well received by fans and critics alike. Jim Cornette previously criticized AEW for having Punk wrestle on Rampage so much.
Jim Cornette also added that AEW has devalued CM Punk wrestling in AEW. That is not all as even Eric Bischoff previously stated that AEW has brought down CM Punk’s image.
While speaking with Wade Keller for PWTorch.com, AEW President Tony Khan talked about CM Punk’s current booking in AEW. Tony Khan admitted that he has intentionally held back marquee matches and stories for CM Punk.
”He is only scratching the surface. I have intentionally tried to hold back a lot of these marquee things; biggest marquee matches and stories for Punk. I’m pretty excited going forward for Full Gear to see them Punk and Eddie Kingston lock horns. I believe that is a match fans want to see, and we have been getting CM Punk reintegrated by building the winning streak. I think it has worked great.”
Even Disco Inferno recently criticized CM Punk’s booking in AEW. Punk is slated to face off against Eddie Kingston at AEW Full Gear on November 13th. It remains to be seen if Punk will be able to win the match or not.
