NXT 2.0 debuted in September and brought about a significant number of changes to the product. However, not all of the changes were met with a positive reception. This is especially the case when it came to the overall presentation and feel of NXT. It seems WWE is quite content with how NXT 2.0 is going so far.
NXT 2.0 came about after undergoing a variety of changes compared to the previous version of NXT. This is especially true regarding the kinds of talent the company hires now.
While speaking during the WWE Q3 2021 earnings call, WWE President & Chief Revenue Officer Nick Khan was asked whether NXT 2.0 is shaping up the way WWE wanted. Khan stated that NXT 2.0 is definitely following the vision WWE wanted and the company is happy with its current state.
“We think it’s all starting the way that we wanted it to start. So we wanted a younger, fresher, in-ring approach. We think we have it. You’ve already seen some talent from the new NXT elevated to the main roster. There’s going to be more of that.”
Sean Waltman previously criticized NXT 2.0 for having 60-year-olds being in charge of the product. NXT 2.0 is focusing on an entirely different direction with talents. We will have to wait and see if the system has also changed or not as the company will certainly need to produce new stars.
