Zoey Stark was featured in an angle with Toxic Attraction members Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne attacking her backstage. Stark was left lying and was selling an injury to her left knee. Stark’s tag team partner, Io Shirai, then confronted stable leader Mandy Rose along with Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter.
According to POST Wrestling, the reason for the angle is because Zoey is legitimately injured. Sources say that internally, it is known that she’s hurt. The severity of the injury is not known.
Zoey Stark and Io Shirai dropped the NXT Women’s Tag Team championships to Dolin and Jayne at Halloween Havoc. The teams competed in a violent Scareway to Hell Ladder match that saw Shirai take an ugly bump at the end. Indi Hartwell and Persia Pirotta also competed in the match.
The 27-year-old Stark worked on the independent wrestling circuit for several years. She most notably feuded with Taya Valkyrie in the FSW promotion. She signed with WWE in January of 2021.
After joining the promotion, Stark earned the respect of Io Shirai after the two had a match. The face turn for Stark led to championship gold. Shirai and Zoey defeated The Way (Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell) to win the titles at The Great American Bash.
Jacy Jayne avoided catastrophe on a recent episode of NXT 2.0. After landing awkwardly while performing a dive to the outside, it looked like she may have been seriously injured. Luckily, her scans came back negative, and she was able to go ahead with the ladder match at Havoc. It was the latest in a serious of questionable bumps taking place on the brand.
