CM Punk has gone on record that he thinks he should’ve been in the AEW World Title Eliminator tournament. After news broke that Jon Moxley was taking a leave of absence to sign in to an inpatient alcohol rehab, Tony Khan’s company was left in need of a fill in.

The company announced that they would announce Moxley’s stand-in during tonight’s Dynamite broadcast. Now, the Second City Saint has teased that he might want to throw his hat into the ring and take over as Orange Cassidy‘s opponent. He posted a GIF of an orange with a cartoon face being sliced.

Moxley was originally expected to reach the finals of the tournament to set up a pay-per-view match at Full Gear with Bryan Danielson. Obviously, that plan is off the table since Mox has opted to put his health first. Now, the opponent for Danielson in the anticipated tournament final is up in the air.

Punk is known to be a social media troll. He likes to have fun and not take things too seriously when he interacts online. He could be just having some fun and stirring the pot.

The last time CM Punk and Bryan Danielson wrestled was during a WWE live tour of Australia in 2012. The two wrestlers share a long history. They wrestled in Ring of Honor in 2004 and met several times in WWE.

Along with the fans, Orange Cassidy will have to wait until show time to find out he will face in the semi-final round of the tournament. This could be the night that we finally get to see the Best in the World take on Orange Cassidy. It’d certainly be unique. It remains to be seen if AEW is willing to put a loss on Punk or Danielson this early, but that may be the deciding factor if they go with somebody else.

Do you think Orange Cassidy’s opponent will be CM Punk? Let us know in the comments!
