WWE is infamous for removing last names from their wrestlers’ characters. When the company does allow a superstar to use a last name, they have a history of changing the name completely. For whatever reason, WWE has some weird ideas about the names they give their wrestlers.

Now, the company has added a last name to an existing superstar. The company announced via a vignette that Veer will now be known as Veer Mahaan. Veer was recently separated from Jinder Mahal and Shanky via the WWE draft.

WWE also posted a tease for the repackaged Veer Mahaan on their Twitter account. Maahan is a popular name in Indian entertainment. It is Hindi for “great” or “great man.”

Veer is known in real life as Rinku Singh. He is rose to fame as the winner of the “Million Dollar Arm” reality show. With no previous baseball experience, Rinku earned a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. His career went nowhere, and he started wrestling.

WWE has not given an exact date for the arrival of Veer Mahaan. They have been airing promos hyping the superstar’s arrival for a couple weeks. Recently he was relegated to multi-man tag matches and C-shows like Main Event.

Singh’s story was told in a Disney film called Million Dollar Arm. The film was released in 2014 and dramatized Rinku Singh’s ascent from nobody to signing a contract with the Pirates. It remains to be seen if he can translate his raw athletic ability into a spot in the WWE main event scene.

Do you think the repackaged Veer Mahaan can make some noise on Raw? Let us know in the comments!
