Priest wrestled a no disqualification match with T-Bar this week on WWE RAW. During the fight, Damian got tied up in the ropes and received a vicious lashing with a kendo stick. Priest took a severely impressive beating but came out on top in the bout.
After the show, WWE posted a photo of the superstar’s contusion-laden abdomen on their Twitter. Priest had several deep lashes as he stood strong with his United States title. The marks looked incredibly painful.
The Archer of Infamy has had a long, hard road to superstardom. He was previously homeless and living on the streets. It’s no surprise that he’s willing to take such a beating after coming so far.
The former Punishment Martinez joined WWE and was initially assigned to their NXT developmental brand. There, he captured the NXT North American championship. After losing the title to Karrion Kross in December of 2020, he was moved to the main roster and had a memorable match involving Bad Bunny at WrestleMania 37.
Priest’s edgier new character might be what it takes to get him over the proverbial hump. Fans are always sympathetic to tough wrestlers who pay their dues in the ring. A more violent edge to the character certainly couldn’t hurt the U.S. champ’s chances of making a bigger impact in WWE.
