WWE UK sent out a tweet ahead of WWE’s tour. Sasha Banks will be in tow, heading to the beautiful United Kingdom, and they literally pilfered the good doctor’s catchphrase. Britt Baker responded in kind, letting everyone know just who the catchphrase, or at least a portion of it, belongs to.
Sasha Banks deserves her props for sure, but the move by WWE UK is odd, they attacking Britt. Baker was trending a few weeks back, when the challenge was brought up on whether she was more popular than the 4 Horsewomen of WWE, and she decided to stay out of it, respectfully.
As it would seem, though, WWE has not chosen to be so gallant. Baker simply replied to WWE’s tweet with a link to AEW’s shop. The wording of the official WWE tweet read as follows.
“The BOSS will see you now – Liverpool, Leeds, Nottingham, Manchester, London are you ready?? Get your tickets NOW”
Tweets in response to Britt’s response to the above tweet, which was a simple posting of some of her merchandise – specifically shirts – from the AEW Shop, got unnecessarily bad, many feeling there was no need for how bad it escalated.
“Someone get this white woman…”
“You were literally inspired by Sasha which is questionable because you are absolute garbo in the ring and need gimmick matches to have a interesting match keep it cute,” one fan tweeted out. “bitch acting like she ain’t steal Bayley whole gimmick??? Girl sit yo goofy ass down somewhere,” tweeted another fan before they deleted it.
The fight on social media turned unnecessarily racial in scope, and all while neither of these women went there. In actual fact, it would seem that Sasha didn’t, or rather hasn’t even seen this tweet, as for right now, she hasn’t said a thing. Much like the discussion on whether Baker was now more popular than Banks, it turned ugly in a hot minute for sure, and there was no need for it.
There are those that are blaming WWE, thinking why do they find the need to poke AEW’s talent roster, especially one specific member that they had in their very own stable and tried to ruin in a squash match at one time? Still, she has the wrestling knowledge and charisma to dominate in a company like AEW.
If WWE is so confident that AEW “isn’t competition,” as Vince McMahon and Roman Reigns will have you believe, then one must wonder why they felt the need to pilfer the good doctor’s lines.
