AEW Dynamite made its debut in October 2019 and since then has worked hard to provide an alternate product to what fans see in WWE. For the most part, they have succeeded, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. It seems Lita has a great opinion of AEW.
For many, AEW was seen as a breath of fresh air and also that old school nostalgia as the company tried to balance both the modern and old school aspects of pro wrestling. While AEW still has a long way to go as far as being a solid product is concerned, it certainly shows promise so far.
AEW has all the momentum in the world right now thanks to the debuts of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole to their roster, ensuring that the roster is one of the most stacked in all of pro wrestling.
While speaking with Steve Muehlhausen of DAZN, WWE Hall of Famer Lita talked about AEW’s current product. Lita revealed that she has watched a lot of AEW’s products lately. She also added that AEW’s success proves that there is a lot of space for other pro wrestling companies.
“I think it’s exciting. It’s exciting to see fans so excited about another product. I hearken back to when I was wrestling, and we all had friends in WCW. We would call them. WCW had the replay, and as soon as we were done, we’d all raced to the hotel room and watched our friends. We’d be calling them in and commenting on that. So that part of it excites me from the workers’ standpoint. From the wrestlers’ standpoint of having friends and different promotions, we want to push each other to do better. I love seeing a viable place with competition, and it just being a new company, they’re fresh, right? They haven’t had to go through recycling all these storylines because they’ve been around for a long time. So I think there’s a lot of potential for expanding.
I just love seeing the fans like it really deep because I think that excitement of the fans being excited about wrestling translates to the other promotions. It makes people think it would do the opposite, but then people are like ‘I want more good wrestling.’ So, they’re checking in at WWE, Ring of Honor, Impact, NWA, and GCW.”
There is no doubt AEW will keep on striving to better their product so that fans remain happy for as long as possible. With Tony Khan at the helm, the company is going through a lot of changes over the past few months. We will have to see just how the company will change in the coming years.
