Impact Knockouts Tag Team Champions Jessica McKay and Cassie Lee (formerly known as Billie Kay and Peyton Royce in the WWE) have revealed how they got the name for their tag team in Impact Wrestling. Their journey from WWE to Impact Wrestling took a bit longer than some had hoped, but they are very happy, and inspired, now.
The former IIconics repackaged themselves as The IInspiration following their departure from the WWE. The are currently signed to Impact Wrestling where they are in their first reign as the Knockouts Tag Team Champions.
Speaking on the Impact Press Pass with Gail Kim ahead of the company’s annual Bound For Glory PPV, the duo talked about how they came up with the name for their new tag team in Impact Wrestling.
“Cassie, I will give props to her. She came up with The IInspiration from ‘Bring It On’ classic film that we’ve all seen a million times. They call themselves inspiration leaders, and she loved that and told me about it. And I was like, that’s amazing.”
“And it just stuck. It felt like us. And it’s so crazy. Now we say the word inspire 100 times a day, and I never knew that. Of course, now we’re saying the word all the time. So it definitely fits for us.”
McKay 32, and Lee, 28, were released from the WWE as part of the company’s budget cuts in April 2021. The duo made their debut for Impact Wrestling at Bound For Glory where they defeated Decay for the company’s tag titles. Check out their debut in the video below.
