Rey Mysterio’s son Dominik has become a mainstay of the main roster and WWE television since making his debut back in 2019. Since then Dominik Mysterio has been featured extensively in various storylines, including a program with Seth Rollins. It seems Dominik’s WWE debut convinced Mysterio to keep on wrestling.
Rey Mysterio is also a veteran in the pro wrestling world and has worked with the best of the best the business has to offer. He had even requested John Cena to coach Dominik Mysterio.
The master of the 619 and his son were even Smackdown Tag Team Champions earlier this year and have always been together since Dominik debuted. Mysterio also made it clear he never wants a father vs son storyline with Dominik.
While speaking with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Rey Mysterio talked about working with his son Dominik. Mysterio revealed that he considered retiring for good. However, Dominik’s debut in WWE made him reconsider that decision.
“Before my son even stepped in the ring I thought maybe it was time to hang up the mask. Having my son kick off his career gave me a moment of renewal. It was a rebirth. I see my son wrestle now and see myself from the early days. It definitely inspired me to stay in this industry because I have so much passion for this. I thought I was losing my passion in 2019 and that my career was coming to an end. My son was able to boost my energy and help me keep going.”
Rey Mysterio certainly has a high opinion of his son as he recently stated that Mysterio wants his son Dominik to be an even better wrestler than him. Whether or not that will happen is a matter of time. This is because there is no guarantee that Dominik Mysterio will compete in the pro wrestling world as long as his father has.
