Hikaru Shida is one of the mainstays of the women’s division in AEW and one of the most talented female pro wrestlers in the world right now. She was the AEW Women’s Champion for well over a year after winning the title from Nyla Rose at Double or Nothing last year. It seems Shida wasn’t a big fan of her title reign.

Hikaru Shida lost the AEW Women’s World Championship to Britt Baker at Double Or Nothing earlier this year. Since then she has largely not been part of the main event scene for the women’s division.

Shida is currently recognised as the longest-reigning AEW Women’s Champion as she held the title for over 370 days. However, it seems the Japanese star simply wasn’t happy with her long reign.

While speaking to Sports Illustrated, Hikaru Shida talked about her AEW Women’s Title run. Shida admitted that she was very frustrated with her run as Shida felt she could have done more as the champion.

”After losing the title, I was very frustrated. I thought I could have done more and been better as champion. So this tournament for the TBS title means a lot to me. It is a great opportunity to get back to the top,”

Hikaru Shida defeated Serena Deeb in the first round of the TBS Women’s Title tournament. She is scheduled to face off against Nyla Rose in the next match. It remains to be seen if she will be able to advance further into the tournament or not.
