WWE released quite a few Superstars and members of staff since April of this year. The company previously released 14 Superstars from NXT and 205 Live and that included one of the mainstays of 205 Live, Tony Nese. Nese already commented on his release, stating that he can’t wait to work elsewhere. It seems Nese had a long time left on his contract before his release as well.

Tony Nese made his first appearance on AEW television during last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. The AEW commentary team also referred to Tony Nese as “one of the hottest free agents in pro-wrestling.” It was not confirmed whether Tony Nese signed with the company or not.

As reported earlier, Tony Nese had signed a contract with AEW recently. However, that fact was not confirmed back then. Finally, Tony Nese himself confirmed that he signed a deal with the company recently,

While speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Tony Nese was asked how much time he had left on his contract, Tony Nese revealed that he had one year left on his contract before WWE released him.

“One more year. I knew as soon as they moved us to be part of the NXT roster; me and Ariya Daivari were like, ‘Alright, now we’re on borrow time. It’s a matter of time.’ We got these new contracts that, to the Raw roster is like a normal contract, but to the NXT roster is like a ‘Woah,’ contract, without getting into any specifics.

When we would share the Raw locker room, we felt like we were good and safe. As soon as we got to NXT it was, ‘we’re on the least cared about show in all of WWE history,’ and they’re going to start looking at who is getting what and what their deals are. The whole year they just kept releasing, releasing, and releasing and we’re like, ‘Okay, it’s just a matter of time. When they start reviewing NXT contracts, we know we’re going out the door. It’s a crappy thing to think about and every day, I just convinced myself that the only thing I could control is me. Just go out there and do the absolute best I can. Go out there, have a great match, and whatever happens, happens.”

Nese has already made his in-ring debut during the latest AEW Dark tapings. On top of that, he even hinted at squaring off against Adam Cole. Now that he is officially part of the roster, we will have to wait and see who Nese will feud against first.
