Sami Zayn has had a lot to complain about in the most recent part of his WWE run. Now, it looks like the promotion is throwing him a bone. He is getting a rare chance as a WWE main roster Superstar to compete for NXT’s top prize, a title he held in the past.
The WWE UK Twitter account announced today that Zayn will challenge Tommaso Ciampa for the NXT championship during the upcoming WWE UK tour. NXT 2.0 star Bron Breakker will make the series of matches three-ways.
The bouts will take place during shows in Liverpool, Leeds, Nottingham, and Manchester between November 7 and 10. The events are branded as SmackDown shows, but other NXT stars might show up.
There is no word on whether this series is a test for a future TV storyline or just a special attraction for the UK fans. Tommaso Ciampa stunned everyone when he defeated Breakker in a one on one title match at Halloween Havoc.
Raw will also take their brand to the UK at the SSE Arena in London on November 6. Damien Priest will defend the U.S. title against Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, and Kevin Owens.
Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Jeff Hardy, and Natalia have also been advertised for the SmackDown UK shows. There were rumors that WWE is considering London for the next SummerSlam, but the show will instead take place in Nashville.
