“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan has been dealing with serious health issues recently. After an emergency surgery, the WWE Hall of Famer appeared to be on the road to recovery. That appears to not be the case.
Duggan and his wife Debra shared a post on Instagram this afternoon to announce that Hacksaw has prostate cancer. The sad news was shared along with a notice that Duggan will be taking a break from social media. His wife will continue to keep fans updated on his condition.
This is the latest in a series of health problems faced by the former superstar. He was hospitalized with a severe infection in 2019. His most recent surgery was said to be successful.
Duggan also has a history of heart problems. In 2019, he underwent a procedure for an unknown cardiac issue. While he has continually put on a brave public face, it appears Hacksaw’s health is beginning to catch up with him.
The brawler was a perennial fan favorite in WWE. He started his run there in 1987 and lasted until 1993. Duggan then worked for WCW until 2001 and later made sporadic WWE returns.
Duggan was the first ever Royal Rumble winner. He’s a member of the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2011. Hacksaw is also a former WCW Television and United States champion. Our best wishes go to Jim and Debra Duggan and their family.
