Former WWE Manager Joins AEW Announce Team

Ricardo Rodriguez, the former WWE talent most famous for managing Alberto Del Rio and serving as his personal ring announcer. Rodriguez (real name Jesus Rodriguez), who worked in pornography in addition to WWE in the past, recently served in a new role with AEW.

Mike Johnson of PW Insider noted that Rodriguez worked on the Spanish announce team for AEW’s Dynamite and Rampage taping in Boston. It is not known if the appearance was a one-off or if Rodriguez has a deal with the company.

Ricardo himself took to Twitter to thank the fans in Boston. His former leader Alberto is currently wound up in a major lawsuit with an MMA promotion and his checkered past makes it unlikely that the two would reunite in AEW.

Rodriguez served as an occasional wrestler during his time in WWE in addition to his valet duties. He also occasionally filled in on the Spanish broadcast team.

Ricardo Rodriguez last appeared for WWE in 2014. Since then, he has worked on the independent circuit. He’s also worked as a wrestling trainer.

Alberto Del Rio recently made unfounded claims that he is returning to WWE. He has had some difficulty landing full-time work in the U.S. due to rumors of his abuse of WWE superstar Paige during a tumultuous relationship.
