For many fans, CM Punk’s debut at AEW Rampage: The First Dance is one of the greatest moments in the company’s history and it is hard to argue why. To add to that, his debut might even make it to Guinness World Records. It seems CM Punk’s latest match didn’t quite turn out as he had hoped.

Ever since CM Punk came back, he has faced off against many young and upcoming talent including Darby Allin, Daniel Garcia and more. While he certainly has had solid matches with most of them, Punk simply has not had any high profile matches in a long time.

On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite, CM Punk squared off against Bobby Fish in a singles match to kick off the show. It was a solid in-ring affair that saw Fish work CM Punk’s leg throughout the match. CM Punk ended up winning the match, but it seems the ending might have been botched.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about CM Punk’s reaction at the end of his match. It was said that Punk reacted in a way that made it seem as if the ending of the match was not originally intended.

“I don’t know what the story is, but I just saw Punk’s face. He did not react like he won. He had that face of, which I always hate when that happens, because if you win the match then you should be happy. His reaction was that it felt like that wasn’t supposed to be the finish. That’s the face he gave.

CM Punk also made it clear he would’ve loved to have participated in the AEW World Title Eliminator tournament. Now that Punk has defeated Bobby Fish, it remains to be seen what is next in store for him.
