Many consider CM Punk’s AEW debut at AEW Rampage: The First Dance to be one of the greatest moments in the company’s history and it is hard to argue why. To add to that, his debut might even make it to Guinness World Records. It seems CM Punk considered a very interesting idea for his debut.
Punk himself absolutely loved his AEW debut. On top of that, it was said that AEW had no idea what Punk was going to say in his promo during his debut on AEW Rampage.
On the other hand, MJF cemented himself as one of the best heels in the modern-day pro wrestling world and there is a very good reason for that. He quickly cemented himself as a top star and remains one of the highlights of AEW television since the debut of AEW Dynamite back in 2019.
While speaking to Josh Martinez on Z100, CM Punk talked about his iconic debut in AEW back in August. CM Punk admitted that he considered having MJF come out to Punk’s ‘Cult of Personality’ song. In the end, that wasn’t how it went.
“Lowest hanging fruit in that aspect. That, of course, did cross my mind. Once I realized that was the thought on everybody’s mind, to me, it wasn’t the right thing to do yet. Not yet.”
MJF did something similar when he came out to Chris Jericho’s iconic countdown theme for his match against Jericho at AEW All Out back in September. MJF is also currently engaged in a feud with Darby Allin, so it remains to be seen how the feud will develop in the coming months. It is likely their feud will culminate at AEW Full Gear next month.
