Jon Moxley debuted at AEW Double Or Nothing 2019 and became one of the mainstays of the company since then. He is also confident when it comes to AEW getting more fans thanks to its diverse product. It seems Mick Foley had a high opinion of him.
Moxley also isn’t afraid of competing in ultra-violent matches as he made a name for himself in such matches in the past. This includes his matches against GCW legend Nick Gage.
Earlier this month, Jon Moxley defended the GCW World Championship against Nick Gage in a deathmatch. It was certainly a violent affair as he managed to retain the title after a hard-fought match. Many fans feel Moxley and Gage have made hardcore wrestling relevant again.
While speaking with Metro, WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley gave massive props to Jon Moxley and Nick Gage for their intense rivalry. In fact, Mick Foley went as far as to say Moxley and Gage are the successors to himself and pro wrestling legend Terry Funk.
“Who am I to tell someone their style of wrestling is wrong? I had the type of stuff that I enjoyed watching. I can appreciate lucha [libre], for example, but it wasn’t what I wanted to do. I like the wild matches and these guys have taken that torch that Funk and I lit, and ran a couple of laps on their own with it.”
Jon Moxley is currently competing in the AEW World Title Elimination tournament, It remains to be seen if he will be able to win the tournament or not. On top of that, Moxley will continue to do what makes him happy and that is unlikely to change anytime soon.
