Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik have enjoyed an historic run in WWE as a father-son duo. Rey recently said that it may have worked out better if WWE had separated the duo.
On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the future of the story. He said that in order for Dominik to turn on his dad, he’s going to have to lose a lot of matches to build up frustration within the character.
“I know what the story is, but I also know that any long term story with WWE can be dropped at any moment, but if it is not dropped, the way the story is formulated, Dominik does have to lose his matches for a while to get that frustration to do the turn.”
The senior Mysterio has flip-flopped on his thoughts about the idea. He has said he thought a breakup might be better. He’s also said he’s against a father-son feud in WWE.
Dominik began wrestling full time for WWE in 2020. He was a key part of a famous 2005 storyline between his father and the late Eddie Guerrero when he was just a child.
Rey Mysterio has wrestled since 1989, at the age of 14. His career has spanned the globe and includes championships in Triple A, Puerto Rico, WWE, WCW, and more. Time will tell if we will ever get to see a feud between the two, but a breakup seems like it might be building.
