Kevin Owens might be reaching the end of his WWE career. There has been widespread speculation that Owens will be joining pals the Young Bucks and Adam Cole in AEW after his WWE deal expires. The company has plenty of time to make a contract offer, but it appears that hasn’t happened yet.
Owens has been openly recruited to AEW by Cole and the Jacksons. He’s even teased it himself in the past. Kevin made a cryptic tweet today, thanking fans for their support. It sounded a lot like a goodbye to many of them, because he revealed the day when he will “walk away.”
“I really don’t know what to say other than thank you all for your continued support and kind words. It really means a lot. The day I stop giving it my absolute all in that ring is the day I walk away. Not a second sooner.
P.S. Rey Mysterio is the best.”
While it does sound like Owens is coming to the end of one phase of his career, he made it clear that he’s not ready to quit entirely. This could further fuel fan speculation that he’s headed elsewhere. He also gave props to the legendary Rey Mysterio.
Owens, the Young Bucks, and Cole formed a stable in Pro Wrestling Guerilla known as “Mount Rushmore” that proved extremely popular back in 2013. Matt and Nick Jackson have said that Owens has been a mentor to them.
Kevin Owens’ WWE contract is set to expire on January 31, 2022. He would not be subject to the same 90-day no compete clause if he finishes out the deal. Owens would be a free agent the moment his WWE contract expires because both sides will have met the obligations of the agreement. Keep checking back with Ringside News for even more on that ongoing situation.
