Many consider CM Punk’s AEW debut at AEW Rampage: The First Dance to be one of the greatest moments in the company’s history and it is hard to argue why. To add to that, his debut might even make it to Guinness World Records. It seems Eric Bischoff didn’t take too kindly to a previous comment by CM Punk.

Punk himself absolutely loved his AEW debut. On top of that, it was said that AEW had no idea what Punk was going to say in his promo during his debut on AEW Rampage.

AEW certainly has all the momentum in the world right now thanks to the debuts of Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole, in addition to CM Punk. Punk previously stated that the impact of Danielson and Cole’s signings will only be felt in five years.

While speaking on his 83 Weeks podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Eric Bischoff put CM Punk on blast after the ratings for AEW Dynamite took a hit after his return to pro wrestling.

”This is what lit my fuse, I wasn’t going to comment on any of this until Punk came out and said ‘It’s going to take five years for the effect of this talent to really show up significantly in the ratings,’ are you f***ing kidding me? Does anybody other than an uninformed wrestling fan who loves CM Punk, is anybody going to believe that nonsense? It’s going to take five years? Dude, you’re going to be getting AARP mail, because it happens soon as you start getting close to 50 they start pounding you with this s–t. I let that one go but then to come out a couple weeks later, after in my opinion he should be embarrassed, and for the ratings to take the dive the way they did after his debut, suggests to me that he ain’t as hot as he’s trying to make people think he is. If he was, the numbers would be much bigger.”

CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole are all currently engaged in storylines. While Eric Bisschoff wasn’t a fan of what CM Punk said, it remains to be seen if Punk will ultimately be right in the end as AEW progresses in the coming years.
