Booker T is one of the most experienced figures in the pro-wrestling world. The WWE superstar keeps a keen eye on any of the new headlines from the pro-wrestling world. May it be something about John Cena, Roman Reigns, or even new talent like Carmelo Hayes, Booker T has it covered.
The WWE Hall of Famer took to his podcast The Hall of Fame with Booker T & Brad Gilmore. He talked about what makes AEW quite a threat for WWE. While he agreed with a lot of the shots Roman Reigns took at CM Punk and AEW, he had a suggestion for Punk. He talked about the performative aspect of cutting a promo, and named Eddie Murphy and Robin Williams.
What does the promo mean? You’re promoting the brand. You’re promoting the show. You’re promoting who I am, who’s ass am I about to go out and whoop in AEW because now there’s a new sheriff in town. It’s one of those type of deals right there for me. Eddie Murphy, every time he’s on camera, he’s working. He’s always acting. You know who was the best at it, the guy who was better than anyone when they were on camera, Robin Williams. Every time you saw Robin Williams on camera, every time, he was always working. He was always entertaining you. You never saw the real Robin Williams on television, never. And that’s my point guys. Not throwing shade on anybody.
Booker T said that there is a factor in AEW that WWE should take note of. He deemed the moment that makes you want to be in the middle of everything, which connects fans from the brand, that is exactly what AEW does right. He praised Adam Cole to be able to create that moment.
You know what it feels like, it feels like when The New Age Outlaws came out back in the day. The signs, everybody wanting to be a part of the show. In some way, shape, or form, or fashion, they want to be a part of that show, and I noticed when Adam Cole walks out, when he does the ‘boom’ and ‘Adam Cole bay bay,’ you can feel that. No matter what happens after that, that right there is something when you’re watching it and you see it happen, you say, man, that was pretty cool. That right there for me is fuel, and that’s something that you really got to pay attention to.
The WWE Hall of Famer recently said that WWE would not entrust a championship to Keith Lee. He also weighed in on what AEW can do to better themselves, and said that doing more shows similar to Grand Slam would be the way. He said that either Walter or Brock Lesnar should beat Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Title.
