MJF has once again hinted at a potential signing with WWE, saying a top official at the multi-billion conglomerate is a huge fan of the AEW star and has known him since his MLW days.
Speaking on the latest episode of the Barstool Rasslin’ podcast, the 25-year-old talked about his current contract status with AEW, revealing that it would expire “in the beginning of 2024”. He also made a subtle reference to WWE as one of the options he might consider following the expiry of his contract.
“I might go over there. I might go to Impact. I might go to Ring of Honor. I can go wherever I want because I’m the hottest commodity in professional wrestling, and I’m a businessman.
“Bruce Prichard, we go way back to my Major League Wrestling days, absolutely. He’s a huge fan of mine. I’ve been in this business for a long time since 2014, riding the roads. It’s up to Tony Khan to decide what happens there, and that’s why I don’t get into ratings talk.”
“The Salt of The Earth” added that he doesn’t like to bring ratings to the conversation table and that he’s good friends with Tony Khan, but won’t mind jumping ship if the AEW owner “doesn’t fork up the right amount of money” after his contract expires in 2024.
“My issue and the reason why I don’t get into ratings talk, and I’ll let everybody else do it, is because someday, if Tony Khan, again good friend of mine, love him, doesn’t fork up the right amount of money, when my contract goes up in the beginning of 2024, I might go to the other place.”
MJF is currently signed to AEW and he’s under a multi-year deal. He is currently the leader and mouthpiece for The Pinnacle; a heel stable consisting of him, Wardlow, FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler), Shawn Spears, and former Horseman Tully Blanchard.
