Acey Romero has been getting increasingly upset with the way IMPACT has been treating him. The wrestler has not been used by the promotion since the April television tapings. While it is possible that this was initially due to health concerns, the problem has continued even after Romero made a full recovery from COVID.

It seems that Romero has finally had enough. The last straw for the wrestler was being pulled from the television tapings in August. Romero took to social media last week to confirm that he has in fact been released from IMPACT.

I had hoped this day and situation would never come, and despite doing everything in my power to prevent it, I find myself here all the same: asking for and being granted my release from IMPACT Wrestling.

Romero has now gone back to being on the independent scene full-time. In a recent conversation with Cultaholic, the wrestler revealed that his primary motivations for leaving IMPACT were financial.

I just want people to know I’m not talking sh*t or trying to bury IMPACT. The last straw was we were going to be booked in August but we were pulled the week of. I’ll be honest, IMPACT was a big chunk of my income and my deal was if I wasn’t there, I wasn’t paid. I was paid per appearance. So I was counting on that loop to help me financially.

It seems that Romero had been in talks with IMPACT for several months leading up to his release, but they just did not have anything for him creatively. Here’s hoping that Romero enjoys greater success as an independent. Check out his post below.
