Trey Miguel has been part of Impact Wrestling since he made his return to the company back in January. After ending a deeply personal feud with Sami Callihan, he has found himself in the X Division picture as he will get his shot at the vacant X Division Championship.
At Bound for Glory this Saturday Trey will have a three-way match against Steve Maclin and El Phantasmo for a shot at winning his first title in the company. Trey highlighted the importance of the division while speaking to Digital Spy, and revealed that it is what him a fan of the company in the first place.
“[The X Division] is one of the most essential attributes of Impact Wrestling because, as you’ve seen, it literally was the catalyst to Josh Alexander becoming the number one contender challenging for our biggest pay-per-view’s main event this year.”
“I remember when Austin Aries turned on Option C, that being one of the most mind-blowing and pivotal moments in wrestling history to me because it was like, ‘Wow this can be whatever you want it to be,’ this could be a means to something else, or it could be your golden egg. It’s my golden egg. I don’t look at the X Division as a means to becoming a world champ. The X Division is my World Championship. I think it skyrocketed Josh, I think it gave Josh the opportunity to show the world, Impact Wrestling, AEW, WWE, NXT, anyone inside of the wrestling world, what we offer and what we’re about.”
Impact Wrestling had underwent a multiple changes in recent years and the X Division Championship picture has been as lively as ever. The ability to use Option C to vacate the title for a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship makes also makes the title very important. It can be clearly seen why Trey loves the division so much as it gives a big opportunity to midcard talent. It might as well be the World Championship as far as Trey is concerned.

Trey Miguel said that the X Division is important because it introduces wrestlers who don’t have an Impact contract. The unrecognized and new talent get a chance to show off their skills in the X Division which makes it valuable for the growth of fresh faces.
