WWE has a lot of things in the pipeline for NXT 2.0 as they continue on with Vince McMahon’s new vision for WWE’s developmental brand. This also caused WWE to lay down a new trademark for a future segment.
Duke Hudson now has a poker player gimmick in NXT 2.0. He will apparently get a bit of a spotlight as his verbal abilities will see him get his own segment, “Duke’s Poker Room.”
According to recent filings, WWE laid down a trademark for Duke’s Poker Room on October 12th. This trademark was registered in the typical way that most pro wrestling trademarks are registered, leading many to believe that Hudson is getting a new recurring segment on the weekly Tuesday night show.
Mark For: DUKE’S POKER ROOM trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of clothing, namely, tops, shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies; outerwear, namely, coats; bottoms, pants, shorts, underwear, dresses, pajamas, lingerie, clothing ties, scarves, gloves, swimwear; Halloween and masquerade costumes; footwear, namely, shoes, sneakers, slippers, flip flops, boots; headwear, namely, hats, caps; wrist bands; bandanas; championship trophy belts.
Mark For: DUKE’S POKER ROOM trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered live and through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information.
This new segment concept joins “Lashing Out with Lash Legend.” We’ll have to see how NXT 2.0 implements those ideas, but it appears that NXT 2.0 is still pumping out concepts for their viewers. They realize that the average age of their viewership is 62, and they obviously want to fix that.
