CM Punk entered AEW with the intention of getting back into the pro wrestling fold. He more than accomplished that as his warm welcome back only continues. He has also frequented AEW’s commentary table, a spot that Jim Ross would like to see Punk in more often
During Grilling JR Podcast, Jim Ross opened up about CM Punk’s time in AEW so far and how exceptional he is at commentary. His Best In The World moniker translates to spoken word and Jim Ross would like to see his natural abilities on commentary receive a bigger spotlight.
“He’s a natural. Punk is a natural at doing commentary. There’s no doubt in my mind, and one of my goals somewhere down the road would be to do a show on a regular basis with CM Punk. I think we could be terrific together. I know how he thinks, how he works, you can feed him things. I’m the point guard, I’ve got to get him the ball and that’s what I’d like to try and do at some point in time. I’m not knocking working with Tony or Excalibur, even though that’s what it’s going to be made to be.”
We’ll have to see what is in the future for AEW. It is totally plausible that the AEW announce team will feature CM Punk and Chris Jericho on a regular basis, and that might make a lot of fans very happy. Punk is also thrilled that he was welcomed back with open arms and the effort he puts into every segment he’s a part of only shines more with each week.
