Owen Hart is one of wrestling’s all time greats. His ability to put on clinics earned him the praise of fans and peers alike. Sadly, the “King of Harts” passed away after a botched entrance attempt at WWE’s “Over the Edge” PPV in 1999.
His legacy continues to live on through his family and wrestlers who say Owen was the man they looked up to growing up. Wrestling fans are already rejoicing over the Owen Hart Cup, a tournament dedicated to the memory of the late great wrestler.
While additional details of the tournament are yet to be revealed, AEW, which is hosting the tournament, has shared a sneak peek at Owen Hart’s theme song currently in the process of being produced. Mikey Rukus, one of the music producers at AEW, posted the unfinished version of the track on Twitter. Have a listen:
AEW recently partnered with the Owen Hart Foundation (OHF) to celebrate the legacy of the charismatic Hart. Owen’s widow, Martha Hart, said the organization is “extremely pleased to partner” with Tony Khan’s wrestling promotion, adding that the tournament will serve as a fitting tribute to her husband.
Several wrestlers including CM Punk have expressed their desire to participate in the Owen Hart Cup. The Chicago native said he “100%” wants to compete in the tournament, adding that he would challenge for the AEW world title some time in future.
