Roman Reigns has earned the respect of wrestling fans after years of being rejected by them. Recently, The Big Dog received wide praise for staying late after Raw to help the talent on 205 Live. While Reigns is flying high, everything isn’t always perfect in his yard.

Before his match with Daniel Bryan on April 30 the decision was made to move on from the Shield’s theme. New entrance music had been created for Reigns to use starting that night.

While talking to Graham Matthews of Bleacher Report, the Universal champ discussed why the new tune didn’t debut at WrestleMania 37. Reigns said that the music wasn’t ready because of a disagreement between himself and, presumably, Vince McMahon.

“It wasn’t ready. Me and the big man weren’t agreeing on a couple of things, so I was like, ‘Screw it, I’m not going out to it now.’ I have to feel it because nobody outside of my cousins and Paul is walking out to that. To me, these are the types of things I have to 100 percent be connected to, and that’s why our audience can trust me and the presentation and the character and everything I’m doing.”

Roman Reigns officially has enough juice in the wrestling business to stand up to Vince McMahon. He’s arrived. The former Shield member explained that if something doesn’t feel right to him, he’s not going to do it.

WWE obviously places a lot of trust in Reigns. Not only is he publicly speaking about a disagreement he had with the boss, but he’s doing so defiantly. Reigns is standing his ground about what he thinks is best for the authenticity of his character.

“If it doesn’t feel right, I’m not going to do that sh*t, It’s got to be on point with how I feel, and I have to be able to commit and connect to it. Otherwise it’s going to be see-through. I’m not the type that can memorize and recite. I have to feel. I have to have instincts. And for me to be able to do that, I have to be comfortable and committed and believe in what’s presented to me so I can present it to our audience.”

Roman Reigns has been a busy man lately. His next challenge will be a match with Brock Lesnar for the Universal title at Crown Jewel. Lesnar himself has been getting good press lately, too. WWE Crown Jewel will air on Peacock and the WWE Network on October 21 live from Saudi Arabia.
