MJF cemented himself as one of the best heels in the modern-day pro wrestling world and there is a very good reason for that. He quickly cemented himself as a top star and remains one of the highlights of AEW television since the debut of AEW Dynamite back in 2019.
The Salt of the Earth is dedicated to his character as he never breaks kayfabe, inside or outside the squared circle. His dedication to his credit has won him over with fans who simply love to hate him.
MJF is also known to take things far and push the envelope as far as being a heel is concerned. During one of his recent promos, MJF mentioned that he had Bruce Prichard on speed dial, which certainly surprised many fans.
While speaking on the latest episode of his Grilling JR podcast, WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross talked about MJF mentioning Bruce Prichard in his promo. He stated that he believes MJF referencing Prichard was an important part of a storyline.
“So, I’m asking, did you hear the mention on AEW the other night of Bruce Pritchard? Good ‘ole MJF saying he had old Brucey on speed dial. That kinda shocked me. I did not have any idea they were gonna do it.”
“That was MJF going to business with Tony Khan. He kinda gave MJF leeway. Knowing Tony Khan and MJF as I do, I think it is all part of a storyline. I don’t think it was just indiscriminate, I don’t think they just did it out there to get a pop. I think there’s something to it in the backhand. We are just gonna have to wait and see.”
It seems MJF is going to get the ultimate heel heat with AEW fans by teasing a jump to WWE. That is rather brilliant considering their fan base.
MJF is currently engaged in a feud with Darby Allin in AEW. Knowing AEW’s track record when it comes to long-term storytelling, we certainly wonder just how MJF mentioning Bruce Prichard will play out in a storyline.
