Jeff Cobb had a short run in AEW, where he was the secret weapon for the Inner Circle when Moxley was feuding with Chris Jericho. He ultimately turned down an AEW contract in order to work in NJPW.
He is currently working for NJPW as that was what he wanted. He is competing in the G1 Climax tournament and has been turning heads with his incredible performance in the tournament.
While speaking to Sports Illustrated, Jeff Cobb stated that he has a lot of unfinished business in NJPW as he wants to win the G1 tournament and the IWGP Heavyweight Championship.
However, he then proceeded to hint at showing up in AEW again in the future if there is something that interests him.
“New Japan is the right decision for me. I have a lot of unfinished business here in New Japan—tons of guys I have yet to suplex and tons of championships to win. I also respect what Tony Khan is doing, especially the level of excitement he has brought into the pro wrestling community and all the amazing crossovers going on. Having said that, will I show up in AEW? Right now, I have my sights set on the G1 and the IWGP world heavyweight championship. But if there’s something that interests me or the United Empire, you never know.’
With the Forbidden Door being wide open in AEW right now, perhaps fans might get to see Jeff Cobb return to AEW television somewhere down the line.
