Former Divas Champion AJ Lee’s influence in the pro wrestling world cannot be understated. After CM Punk made his debut in AEW, many fans wanted AJ Lee to follow suit and join her husband.

AJ Lee’s success story in WWE is certainly a remarkable one, to say the least as she is given credit for helping to jumpstart the WWE’s Women’s Revolution. She left pro wrestling back in 2015 but finally made her return recently.

Lee is set to be the executive producer for WOW Women of Wrestling and will also be part of the commentary team, but will not be competing inside the squared circle.

While speaking on the My Mom’s Basement podcast, CM Punk talked about AJ Lee’s return to the pro wrestling world and made it clear at her return had nothing to do with his return to the industry.

“I don’t want to put words in her mouth, but I think that’s just a happy coincidence. I think it was more, you know. So I’ll go ahead. “They (Lee and Jeanie Buss) had a great conversation and Jeanie was just, you know, trying to kickstart WOW and it really just kind of fit into the stuff that April’s doing: writing, producing. So it really was just an idea presented to her that I think opened her up to, ‘Oh, shit. This is actually perfect. I can help the next generation of female wrestlers, with the creative side of stuff and I don’t have to get concussed.’ Like it’s excellent, so it really fits what she’s doing in her wheelhouse. I’m super stoked she’s doing it.”

We will have to wait and see how AJ Lee will fare in her new role now that she is officially back to the pro wrestling world.
