The latest wrestling star to jump ship from WWE to AEW, Bobby Fish talked with Chris Van Vliet on his Insight podcast. Fish opened up about what went into the decision to jump ship.
The veteran also talked about his experiences in NXT with The Undisputed Era, signing with MLW, and more. Fish has already made an impact in AEW, having wrestled Sammy Guevara in his debut for the TNT title. He’s also got a date with Bryan Danielson this Friday.
“Man, they’re hitting home runs there. When you’re making contact with almost every pitch, it’s just a good time for them right now. Opportunity is what it is, it’s opportunity. And you’re either going to do something successful with it or you’re going to fall on your face and learn from that mistake.”
Fish, who has had successful runs in NJPW, ROH, NXT, and everywhere else, now has his sights set on All Elite Wrestling. When you join a new promotion and immediately go into a title match and then on to Bryan Danielson in a singles match, they clearly think highly of you.
Bobby Fish is set to wrestle Bryan Danielson on Friday’s AEW Buy-In show, which airs on YouTube for free starting at 9PM. The show will compete with Smackdown, which added an extra half hour overrun for their special show on FS1 this week.
This will be the first time that a main-roster WWE show goes head to head with an AEW television event. Tony Khan obviously trusts Bobby Fish, as this is the match they’ve chosen to compete. You can check out the entire interview below.
