Impact Wrestling has a roster full of talent, ready to bring attention to the company. Not everyone wants to be around, and Acey Romero’s release was just granted.
IMPACT wrestling has released talent Acey Romero. This was first reported by Fightful Select earlier today.
Earlier this year, it was reported that Romero had asked for a release from his IMPACT contract because he wasn’t being used enough. Romero had gone months without being booked by the promotion.
Six weeks after asking for his release, he was granted the same. It took several weeks to finalize the paperwork, but it appears that Acey is a free agent. Fightful confirmed that Acey does not have a no-compete clause.
Romero was working for IMPACT under a handshake, per-appearance deal. Because of the nature of the deal, he wasn’t paid if he didn’t work. Romero hasn’t been paid by IMPACT since April.
His tag partner Larry D remains under contract with the promotion. He has also not been featured on any recent televised events for the company.
Romero has yet to address his release on Twitter as of this writing. We’ll have to just wait and see where the big man winds up. He’s been working mostly independents since his absense from IMPACT, including appearances for Limitless Wrestling in Maine.
