AEW’s inception came about at Double Or Nothing 2019 and since then, the company has done all it could to provide an alternate product to what fans see in WWE. For the most part, they have succeeded, but there is still a lot of room for improvement.
AEW has all the momentum in the world right now thanks to the debuts of CM Punk, Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole to their roster, ensuring that the roster is one of the most stacked in all of pro wrestling.
Always looking to expand their business, AEW introduced their secondary show AEW Rampage back in August. Next week’s episode of Friday Night Smackdown will be a “Supersized” edition of the show and will air on FS1.
The show will be a two-and-a-half-hour show, which means that it will go head-to-head with the first 30 minutes of a live episode of AEW Rampage. AEW President Tony Khan took to Twitter and took a direct shot at WWE, stating that he can’t wait for AEW Rampage to beat Friday Night Smackdown in ratings.
I saw you’re doing a half hour head-to-head with us. I can’t wait to finally beat your main show head-to-head. It’s been a long time coming. See you next Friday for #AEWRampage on @AEWonTNT!
It remains to be seen whether Tony Khan’s words will come back to bite him next week or not as he certainly made a bold claim.
