WWE has a lot of things going at once and sometimes those plans don’t come to fruition. The League of Nations was a novel concept, but that first incarnation did not go the distance. There was a thought about bringing the stable back, but that fell by the wayside as well.
Wade Barrett, Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, and Rusev made up the original League of Nations stable. We’re not sure who WWE pegged for the new incarnation, but Shinsuke Nakamura and Mojo Rawley would have been attached.
While talking to Chris Hero’s shoot interview show on High Spots, Mojo Rawley revealed that WWE planned for a reboot for the League of Nations idea. That concept was nixed, but it would have seen Mojo become the mouthpiece for the stable.
My most recent Mania, I’m doing the heel thing and I tagged with Cesaro and [Shinsuke Nakamura]. They liked that. They were talking about that being a new League of Nations and I was going to be the mouthpiece of it. Who knows how much that was going to be a thing. I’m doing my heel work, then the 24/7 stuff was around there, then I moved SmackDown and I was immediately hyped up babyface to bring in Rob and we had big plans that didn’t materialize because of the pandemic he went back to football. They put me right back to being a heel immediately and I was flip-flopping every week.
Mojo was released from WWE and he hasn’t arrived in another pro wrestling company just yet. He did recently land a gig on TMZ Sports where he is a talking head and chats about current events throughout the sporting world. It might have been nice to see a League of Nations reboot in WWE, but perhaps there is still a chance for them to dust off that concept at a later date.
