WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross is a veteran in the pro wrestling world, as he made a name for himself being a commentator in WWE and delivering some of the most iconic moments in the history of pro wrestling. Nobody is perfect, even Goo ‘ole JR.
Jim Ross is human at the end of the day and is open to making mistakes. He has made some particularly bad blunders and gotten a lot of hate for it online. This includes calling Jon Moxley the ‘WWE Champion’ and also saying ‘WWE Dynamite’ at one time.
The hate for Jim Ross came to such a point that even AEW EVP Cody Rhodes was surprised at all the heat Jim Ross was getting for his mistakes on AEW commentary.
While speaking on the Grilling JR Podcast, Jim Ross talked about working AEW Grand Slam and how he paused while saying Malakai Black’s name. He addressed the errors he made and compared people on Twitter to barbarians at the gate.
“I did overreact. I think it’s because I care too much sometimes. I really do. If I’m going to be called down by some geek on Twitter, have at it, folks. Think about everything, think about the big picture, think about my motivation for saying that was one of the most special nights in my career. It’s just a pleasure to be there, and I’m getting better.”
“I hope working with these two announcers I had never worked with before, you’ve got three play-by-play guys at one table and somebody’s got to lead. It’s inevitable, it’s what you do, so all I can do is work my ass off and try to improve my game. I’ll never stop trying to improve my game, but you’re exactly right, I think I do care a little more than I need to. That’s a good catch because I caught it too, I stopped mid-f*cking sentence. Just because you hear the barbarians at the gate.”
Ross also doesn’t seem to care much about the haters, but that doesn’t mean he’s okay with making mistakes on the air. He said there was no excuse to say “WWE Dynamite” as he did. Still, some online won’t let him live that one down, and some fans even sent death threats and that is simply shameful.
