AEW had plans to hold Fyter Fest in the U.K last year, but the pandemic stopped them from pulling that off. Despite their passionate fan base in the U.K and all other the world, AEW has yet to make their way overseas. Tony Khan hopes to change that next year.
While speaking to Busted Open Radio, Tony Khan stated that the company wants to make an international tour happen in 2022. That hasn’t been planned yet, but he has great connections overseas that could find them in some unique venues as well.
“I do really want to do an international tour next year in 2022. I’m not sure if we’ll hit a lot of different cities or if we’ll focus the international trip primarily on Craven Cottage, the home of Fulham Football Club. You know [the stadium] is very, very near and dear to my heart. With our relationship or ownership of the Fulham Football Club and our relationship with the fans and having such a great venue to do a show in such a historic venue, and I would really want to put my focus on that if we do go overseas and I don’t know when we’ll do it, but it’s something I’d really like to do.”
AEW is gaining a reputation for bringing shows to interesting locations. They were able to make things work inside Daily’s Place for over a year while the world waited out the pandemic. Now they are touring again, but also selling out places like Arthur Ashe Stadium.
We can only imagine what kind of setup AEW has planned for Craven Cottage, because that historic venue has a special AEW event written all over it.
