Sammy Guevara won the AEW TNT Title from Miro this week on Dynamite and it was a big moment in Rochester. That was immediately followed by The Spanish God cutting an in-ring promo thanking the crowd and admitting that Brodie Lee is the greatest TNT Champion ever. Then Guevara challenged Bobby Fish to a match on next week’s Anniversary edition of AEW Dynamite. That last part was very unexpected.

Fish was among those who were released by WWE in a surprising wave of cuts. He is appearing for MLW, but AEW isn’t off the table either. This will open the door for Bobby Fish to make his AEW Dynamite debut next week.

While speaking to Busted Open Radio, Fish admitted that the TNT Title will match his mustache pretty well.

I’m at home watching AEW, just like everybody else, and I see this thing go down and I’m thinking, ‘Fortune favors the bold.’ That title and this mustache would look pretty fantastic together. I can either sit on my hands and do nothing or I can put my name in the ring, so to speak, and see what happens. That’s what I did.

At this stage in Bobby Fish’s career, he is putting on a fresh coat of paint. His NXT release was sudden and now he is ready to see what the future holds.

I feel like I was ready in my career for a ‘fresh coat of paint,’ so to speak and here we are. It wasn’t orchestrated and I didn’t seek it out. Things feel into place and it happened. I have this new lease on my wrestling life and I can’t wait to go at this thing guns blazing.

Bobby Fish’s former Undisputed Era stablemate Adam Cole is already with AEW. We have to imagine the two will have a very good time catching up backstage at Dynamite next week.

It will be interesting to see Fish’s AEW debut in a TNT Title match, but it will certainly kick Sammy Guevara’s reign off with an exciting match.
