Ariane Andrew’s AEW debut was one of the most unexpected things AEW had ever pulled (though not as much as signing CM Punk.) The former WWE Superstar known as Cameron, is not a permanent part of AEW, which begs the question of what’s the next move in her career.
Andrew appeared on the latest episode of The Wrestling Inc. Daily. She was asked about whether she would like to return to the world of pro-wrestling. She revealed that she contacted Vince McMahon himself to get back into WWE.
I am very torn if I want to say this, but I actually reached out recently and was like, ‘I would love to come back,’ and, will I be back? That’s to be determined, but I actually reached out to Vince [McMahon] himself and was like, you know what, I’m going to go to the person who’s at the top. I miss being in that world of wrestling. I saw Naomi three months ago, and I was like, you know what, if I have nothing, if I never got the championship, I feel like having the tag team titles would be awesome.
The former WWE superstar who fought under the name of Cameron said that she misses “the feeling of feeling accomplished.” She added that she misses how awesome The Funkadactyls were and that she would like to hold the tag-team belts if she ever goes back.
I feel like I would feel fulfilled. I feel like I would get that feeling of feeling accomplished because The Funkadactyls were awesome, but I still feel there’s this void that I’m missing, and I feel like if I was able to go back and, not only that, we’d be making history. We would be the first black women ever — I hate to throw that term around when it comes to race, but we’d be the first black women ever to have the belts.
The question of how Vince McMahon reacted to her request also came up. She said that the fact he actually came around to respond was pretty surreal. This is what she revealed Vince McMahon had to say:
He actually responded, which is crazy. I know he’s a busy person. He was like, ‘I’ll pass this along to John Laurinaitis,’ who’s head of talent relations.
Andrew recently dropped a single “Born With It,” showing off her musical talents and chops. She also revealed that she had almost rejected her appearance in AEW, but was glad that she did not. She also revealed how little training she ended up having prior to her return.
