Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt’s Fiend met in a 2019 Hell in a Cell match that fans would love to forget, but many can’t. The night ended with the referee calling for the bell and those fans were livid. Many wondered if WWE killed the Hell in a Cell gimmick match with that red light shenanigans as well. Rollins was not happy at all.
While speaking to Steve Austin on the Broken Skull Sessions, Seth Rollins remembered that night. He likes to think about positivity in retrospect, but The Messiah was ready to choke his boss after that match.
“Look, I put a positive spin on it now, that I can look back on it a year and a half later, but at the time, I came through that curtain and I was ready to strangle Vince McMahon. I’m not kidding you. Tyson Kidd, TJ Wilson, was there to hold me back.
Seth Rollins was able to recover, but it took a lot of work. That same is true for Bray Wyatt’s Fiend, although many point at that match as the first time WWE dropped the ball on that Firefly Fun House persona.
We’ll have to see what’s next for both Rollins and Bray Wyatt, especially after Windham’s release. They have bright futures in the pro wrestling business, but that night at Hell in a Cell was certainly a tough one to endure.
