Rey Mysterio’s son Dominik has become a mainstay of the main roster and WWE television since making his debut back in 2019. Since then Dominik Mysterio has been featured extensively in various storylines, including a program with Seth Rollins.
Rey Mysterio is also a veteran in the pro wrestling world and has worked with the best of the best the business has to offer. He had even requested John Cena to coach Dominik Mysterio.
The master of the 619 and his son were even Smackdown Tag Team Champions earlier this year and have always been together since Dominik debuted.
While speaking with talkSPORT’s Alex McCarthy, Rey Mysterio made it clear that he doesn’t want a father vs son storyline with Dominik in WWE and passing on his legacy to his son.
“I think in a perfect world I would love to step out of the ring, and kind of just pass the torch onto my son. You know a lot of people talk about the possible turn, and father vs. son. For me, it would mean much more to take my mask off and say, ‘Here. It’s your time. I’m stepping away. Continue with this. Write it,'”
While it certainly does seem like WWE has been teasing a possible heel turn for Dominik Mysterio, it is unlikely the company will pull the trigger considering Rey Mysterio’s influence in the company.
