It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the decision was made for Big E and Roman Reigns to wrestle twice on the day of the show. Vince McMahon made the call around noon on Monday because Vince McMahon heard how well they were doing on house shows with that match.

The idea of having Reigns and Big E work twice on Raw on 9/20 was decided upon at Noon the day of the show. They had done the match to headline house shows in North Charleston, SC and Augusta, GA the previous two nights and the match got over big in both cities. Vince then decided to make it the Raw main event.
