AEW Blocked From Using Original Name Intended For Owen Hart Tournament

Owen Hart’s legacy is not a part of WWE programming. Martha Hart made it clear that she doesn’t want Vince McMahon’s company benefiting from his legacy since they had such a huge part in his death. AEW is a different story and fans will soon see the Owen Hart Cup and so much more from All Elite Wrestling.

It was noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW initially wanted to use a different name for that tournament, but it was blocked. The name “The King of Harts” was not permitted, so they went with the name they have now.

AEW announced that the collaboration will include an annual Owen Hart Cup tournament on television where the winner will receive a Cup called “The Owen.” AEW had attempted to name the Cup the King of Harts, but had been blocked from using that name.

AEW will also get to release Owen Hart merchandise, including action figures. We also have to wonder how Owen Hart will be rated in the upcoming AEW console video game that the Yuke’s team is hard at work on right now.
