AEW Grand Slam went down this week and they brought a huge show to Arthur Ashe Stadium. The venue was sold out and they weren’t really prepared for so many fans. It was still a historic day in company history.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the AEW Grand Slam event. He noted how it broke a company attendance record, but it also saw them capture a spot on another impressive list.

“The gate would have been the third largest non-WWE gate in the history of pro wrestling in the United States. Attendance-wise it’s the biggest for a non-WWE event since 1999.”

Those numbers are very impressive as AEW continues building momentum. We’ll have to see what’s next for Tony Khan’s company, but they certainly captured a ton of attention in New York City this week.
